Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

These are some of the questions that we are asked on a regular basis through our website, face book page and our info@cwd.org.za email address.

  1. How can I volunteer / intern for CWD

CWD has a number of youth, students and retired professionals / non-professionals volunteering with us.  Volunteers are key to the work that we do in addressing issues of poverty and injustice in and around the Western Cape.  We have a database of volunteers and if you would like to volunteer with us please register on the volunteer page on our website and / or send us a Curriculum Vitae highlighting your areas of interest to our info@cwd.org.za email address and one of us will get back to you with a response.

Please note that we try as much as possible to accommodate your request and appreciate your willingness to be a part of our developmental work, however we have limited capacity and may not be able to accommodate all requests.

2. Where can I find detailed information on CWD projects

Our website programmes tab will give you a summary of all the programmes that we offer.  Should you wish to know more about a particular programme there is a contact number and email address per programme.

3. How can I participate in CWD events or campaigns

Our events and campaigns will be highlighted on our website as part of our annual calendar of events.  Should you wish to join or contribute to an event or campaign, contact our Marketing and PR Officer Julia Oduol on 2721 425 2095 or Julia.oduol@cwd.org.za

4. I will be travelling to South Africa soon – will I be able to visit any of your projects?

Overseas and local visitors are always welcome. Please give us at least a week's notice and let us know how much time you will have available and what your special interests are (e.g. children's projects, economic empowerment and training, social development) in order for us to make the necessary arrangements to ensure you get the most out of your trip.

5. How can I get financial information on CWD

Our latest annual report show that 58%of funds raised was spent in developmental work and 22% is being spent on welfare. Just over 9% was earmarked for donor appeals while 10% was spent on administration and just under 1% on capital expenses.

6. Where does the money come from?

CWD's progammes are funded by donations from individuals both local and overseas, partnerships with funding agencies including corporate organisations, Catholic partners local and overseas, Trusts and Foundations, provincial and local government as well as International Non-profit organisations. Our annual budget is currently ZAR 35 million, with less than 10 per cent spent on administration costs.  Income is as follows:

7. Do you have a local office in the UK and/or United States?

Not at the moment. However, we are looking into the viability of registering our organisation in other countries, in order to facilitate donations and enable overseas donors to claim tax benefits.


ONLINE SHOP FAQ's

Q: Do I have to be registered to purchase from CWD Online Shop?
A:
Yes, you do. The reason for this is to minimise fraudulent activities and keep an order trace, should you be unsatisfied with our services.

Q: What are the delivery charges for orders from CWD Online Shop?
A:
We use the South African Post Office as our delivery carrier. Our delivery charges are calculated on a volumetric scale and caries according to size and/or weight of the goods, incl. the packaging. 

Q: Which payment methods are accepted in CWD Online Shop?
A:
We accept Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) as well as online Credit/ Debit Payments via our secure online payment gateway.

Q: How long will delivery take?
A:
This varies with the Post Office delivery times. It usually takes between 5 – 10 working days.

Q: How secure is shopping on CWD Online Shop? Is my data protected?
A:
We do not save any personal information such as credit card details or passwords. We do not share your information with any third party and all payment information is protected by Virtual Card Services (VCS).

Q: Can I try the product out before I buy?
A:
Unfortunately, you may not try the product beforehand. CWD is a non-profitable organisation and all goods being sold on our Online Shop are produced by underprivileged South Africans and funds from the Online Shop go towards the underprivileged.

Q: Is it possible to receive the serial number by email before my package arrives?
A:
CWD will send you a notification with either your parcel tracking number or to schedule a date for collection depending on which delivery method you have chosen.

Q: What exactly happens after ordering and opted for delivery?
A:
We pick and package your parcel; send it to the post office where we will receive a parcel tracking number. As soon as we receive this number we will send it to you via the email address that you have provided us with on CWD’s website.

Q: What exactly happens after ordering and opting for collection?
A:
We will send you an email notification stating when your product is ready to be collected. You may collect it from our offices at the address below:

Q: Do I need to provide any documentation when I want to collect my order from CWD?
A:
Yes, you need to provide us the proof of payment and the notification stating that your order is ready to be collected along with the scheduled date. You do not have to print this documentation; simply display it on your device where the emails were sent. It is important for us to see your order reference number.

Q: Why have I not received an order confirmation?
A:
You should receive an Order and Payment confirmation email. If this did not happen, do not hesitate to contact us telephonically or is email on Tel: (021) 425-2095 or Email: info@cwd.co.za
